Chelsea, change of plan. We have to go with public schools, so that may change how we look at things.

Still looking - Plantation, WPP, Weston.

Then hubby is adding the southern area of Miami - coral gables, pinecrest etc into the mix.

We will stay in Atlanta for 3 months or so anyway, so I have lots of time to do more research and bug you all

If you want one car the home, the job and the school should all be close together. I assume the plan is for you to drive everyone where they need to be and then pick everyone up so that you have a car during the day.

If you live in Plantation you would need to drive the kids 10 miles out west to school in Weston, then 25 miles east to hubby's workplace (in traffic), then 15 miles back home for you. Then do it all again. I recommend 2 cars, OR the home school and job being close together.

LOL Momma bear- that sounds horrendous. No I won't be doing that. More research required by me

West pines anywhere in the 33027 & 33028 area code is good and parts of 33026 is good too - 33029 only NW parts - Weston and Cooper city - in my opinion these places offer better schools but not enough diversity for me and the difference in school scores are not largely different - at least not enough to make a difference in my eyes. The more I go to pines the more I like it! Good luck - ladies I'm still awaiting our lunch date!

Former - if you can afford Pinecrest or South Miami goes with it - especially if you have to go public schools.

Former - the Pinecrest/South Miami schools are excellent. The area is very established and its difficult to define - the lots are much larger, its much closer to more enjoyable things for me (Matheson Hammock beach, Key Biscayne, Brickell, South Beach, The Science Museum; the Children's Museum- better restaurants and shopping).

Its difficult to understand not having being there- but Ive lived in both areas and although I am no fan of residing in Miami - if I had to choose between Weston and Pinecrest - its no competition. My best and final recommendation to you - visit before you make a choice.
