Raffeer, this is from your article: ``I would stop buying from here if somehow it was proven that BP showed negligence,'' said Eva Leach.., as she filled up her SUV. Anyone doubting ‘negligence’ should refer to: BP's Horrible Safety Record: It's Got 760 OSHA Fines, Exxon Has Just 1 , and should also examine decisions and shortcuts which led to Horizon disaster. Oil has already begun making landfall in the Keys. If one tar ball hits Miami Bch, it’s international news and my small business is done !! I’m finished, just like the fishermen in the Gulf. The local BP owner, however, will do just fine, even though a few of us have decided not to shop at BP or Exxon. Besides, aren’t we ‘helping’ the hard-working Sunoco owners, and their families? I will continue to protest BP (I covered myself with ‘oil’ [face paint] but never thought about getting naked?) bc it DOES get their attention, and I will continue to encourage my local BP owner to join us, and other BP owners nationwide, who want BP to be held accountable. I shared this article with him:Convenience Stores Seek Distance From BP Oil Spill | TheWebMirror.com and I even suggested a new name “FBP” (Future Better Planet) for his new sign. Hey, MRClose, nobody ‘made you drill deeper’ offshore. Just because Sarah tweets something, doesn’t mean it is true. Us tree-huggers oppose ALL offshore drilling, AND also drilling what’s left of ANWAR. The reason Europe has mass transit and high speed rail is bc they don’t subsidize Big Oil like we do. Gas is $8 per g, instead of $3, bc in UK and France tax is 80% of pump price, instead of 14%, like here in US. Until lazy, fast-food eating Americans stop demanding Cheap Gas, despite obvious costs, things won’t change. I’m proud to be a tree-hugger. Trees need hugs too. I love trees.

................and the following was also in the article link I posted- "Of the nearly 1,000 BP gas stations in Florida, the company owns zero. Owners like Paz get their gas from a local distributor, not the company directly. She has no closer relationship to the crude oil company than she does to Coca-Cola."

Your right to hug a tree is not in question but perhaps your methodology would benefit from a clearer focus.

Somehow I think if the roles were reversed and Paz's gas station blew up due to her negligence, and it became a national headline for months on end, turned the immediate neighborhood into a Chernobyl of sorts which was dangerous to the unknowing, so killing birds who flew in the vicinity, etc., and people were united in boycotting Paz's other stations due to Paz's negligence, that BP would not think twice about yanking their brand contract with her.

They receive about $70,000 per year from the station owners for the right to display their name. Would you renew with BP if you could renew with a different brand?
