Absolutely, that's the minimum !

This is not the first incident. There was also a question about missing reserved money. I will try to find that article.

Partying and putting on your bill show end.

Yoko, you are again way off here. Independent consultants routinely charge much more than the money being paid to the one in Cape Coral. Consultants also are responsible for providing their own health benefits and tax withholding. 20K for 4 months (not 3 as you state) equates to 60K per year, and easy 40% of that goes either to the goverment or to health insurance.

Besides, even if this guy was paid TRIPLE that, the fact that he uncovered 5MM in missing fuel more than justifies his fees. How could you possibly not agree? CC is getting a bargain, IMO.

You also have the story all wrong about the city manager, but your points were proven wrong in prior posts so I won't bother....

You know that the city is living off borrowed money. These so called independent consultants, two, are getting $ 20000 each for 3 months and their contract will be extended.

These expensive consultants were brought in by a previously unknown city manager who is reported to be under-qualified and his own hiring was suspicious and being confirmed to have been forced upon Sullivan by the vice Chairman of Republican party...he was not elected but selected by friends of friends.
When the city manager without telling any one in the council moved $50 000 000 of tax money to his favorite money managers, these auditors did not say a word. So, be careful that a bone is thrown to the dog, so that the thief can enter the house.

Also, 2 other additional consultants are going to be hired at $56 an hour. While on the other hand the city is cutting back on services and is running up the debt every single day without any benefit to the city.

For each point that I have mentioned, just copy what I have written then paste it to Google search and you can read the whole backup information. These information I have already posted with links in many other threads of this forum.

" On Towler's application, his highest degree is a high school diploma. And the executive management experience includes his own website, where he says he made $1 dollar a month. "

A "consultant" right?

“ Towler was editor of grassrootsdailynews.com, a website that strongly supported Mayor John Sullivan, Councilmember Chris Chulakes-Leetz, and candidates John Cataldi and Jim Martin during the election last year.”

"independent" right ?

" In order to avoid the perception of predetermined outcomes, the best course of action would have been to hire Florida Gulf Coast University through an ongoing services contract to assess the city’s organizational structure.

This approach would have given the effort more credibility, not to mention a more cost-effective approach. From the cost-effectiveness perspective, the university can utilize low-cost graduate assistants to conduct the more costly analysis, which will be required for a credible outcome.
There’s a big difference between $10 and $40 per hour, when you consider the amount of analysis required."

They are worth it, right?

The e-mails indicate King's selection was months in the making. But it was almost derailed the day before King was chosen, when Sullivan and Tom Leipold, president of the Cape Coral Republican Club, had a heated e-mail battle over whether King was right for the job. Leipold was pushing King for city manager.”

But the after-the-fact notice that he had moved millions on his own put King in hot water Monday with Councilman Marty McClain.”
“ "The city manager is moving money without our knowledge," McClain said.”
“ "If I see this trend continuing, I will ask for your resignation," McClain said.”

Referring to 5 million bucks that are missing as a major gaffe is a bit mild.
Criminal negligence would be more appropriate I think.

Protecting the value of their investment in Cape Coral...that's all what matters, right?
They have no idea how their property value is suffering because of mismanagement.

The fuel audit was prompted by a report by city consultant Bill Towler, who said that the city bought twice as much fuel last year than it did five years ago, “but we can’t account for it.”

The auditors would be paid $56 an hour.
