Hi everyone,
My husband, I and our 4 children are considering moving to Fort Myers. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what the pay is for RN's in the Fort Myers area and also where the best hospitals/places to work are. In CT I make $43+/hr plus diff but our cost of living is very high.

I am an RN with 14 years of critical care, radiology and IV experiance. I only want to work part time or per diem but I need benefits. I am open to other areas of nursing also. Any info or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Lori

LoriMarie, we did this excercise with our daughter several years ago and she decided at that time there were no financial advantages in moving to Florida, but things change so I suggest you Google search something like 'nurses salaries by state'. Here is a link we used which I hope will get you started. PayScale - Nurse Salary, Average Nurse Salaries, Registered Nurse Salary
I should add that after arriving at a short list of states she wrote to several hospitals to see what the employment situation was at the time and the starting salary, benefits etc. We learnt that many hospitals had a hiring freeze and to cope with the increase work load during the Winter months in 'Snowbird States' they employed temporary nurses from Canada.

LMHS is hiring nurses, but it's really hard to get in unless you know somebody.

Well thanks for the info. This is all kind of depressing...( So much for the big nursing shortage the media loves to sensationalize.
Thanks,
Lori

Oh, there is a nursing shortage...but those spots are usually filled before they even hit the website..they only post it as a formality. Put your app in online anyway...you just never know.
