CatchSnook..
As you can see I was pretty vocal here, for a while but now just sit a read some of these post..
I am sure some duck egg will get back on here and knock were they live or C/Coral itself.
I have onwed 6 1/2 years and lived here for 3 1/2..takes some time to adjust but compared to what I was paying on Long Island NY it's a piece of cake.
I just had people from LI, NY and Melboune Fl for Thanksgiving and it's the same all over, economy and housing wise. Just enjoy the weather now and watch and read this thread. You might get a chuckle or two out of it.

I was in Cape Coral last week looking at homes and the only evdence of crime was the abandon homes. There are some sweet deals to be made there if you have good credit and enough balls to make an offer and walk away if it is not accepted. I was impressed with the city. It was rare to find any building more than 20 years old. But if you are going to buy...do your homework. There may be assessments due and take a good look at the cabinets and carpet in the home. It seems that most people there are happy. It was easy to get a smile. The same in North Port. Everyone there was sooo friendly.

Judge for yourself. Come visit and look around. There are so many good
opportunities for buying a house right now. We have had RECORD sales
in Cape Coral with house sales this last six months and that is in the
middle of an economic down turn. There are foreclosures and House prices are down about 40% if you look real good.
The only downside right now is employment. The construction has all but stopped and that was about 35% of the employment down here. It has
had an impact on all businesses.
If someone is retiring or has a job already secured than there could not be a better time to move to Cape Coral. Today it is going to be 80 degree's and Sunny. We are going down to Fort Myers Beach to play mini-golf and have dinner on the beach and watch the sunset. We were in the pool swimming yesterday on Thanksgiving day. It is a new tradition we have just adopted.
Some people will be miserable.....no matter where they live. I am thankful I live in Cape Coral.

Hey Lee Ann,
I just returned from a week in Cape Coral and many things surprised me. First and foremost is the sheer size of Cape Coral (170,000 people!). There IS a beach in Cape Coral, at the recreation area, which also has a playground and community pool. It is more of a familly beach and on the small size. There are a lot of amazing housing deals. Foreclosures in the 75K-100K range in the older neighborhoods. My first impressions was not positive, but as I met some of the local people and the snow birds, it was very nice. As with all older neighborhoods, some people keep their yards very nice and others don't. If you're looking for tropical weather and lots of shopping/restaurants, etc., it's a fine place. Buying there would be a risk. Don't know how long it will take to come around again. Hurricanes do happen there and everywhere else in Florida. Last big one on the gulf was Charley, which they still talk about...replacing roofs, etc. Hope this helps.

I'd be more concerned if the bust was for meth, crack or other MORE dangerous drugs!

So, what about the crime rate there Connie? I believe that there is much more crime than what is said by the public information director.

Are you guys kidding me about a bust. People better check there own backyards before spewing nonsence like this out.
Since I have been here there have been bust for grow houses and street corner selling LIKE ANY OTHER COMMUNITIES having some problems.
Most of the grow house now are in Lehigh Acres and certain undesirable parts of Ft Myers. The problem was that most of these homes where for rent with an absentee landlord who was just concerned with putting a body in there to offset bills.
Honestly and not only here it ultamitly up to the L.Lord who he rents to. One time you get a wraning . seconf tile seize the home will solve all those problems ANY WHERE!
I chalange anyone to say that there neighborhood is squeeky clean and if you belivge it is I got a piece of bridge for sale in Brooklyn
