That place has been a bad place to invest for 30 years, there are still unfinished homes there from the 1980s realestate bubble, I here there is lots of crime there now, along with gangs etc,run forest run .

Bong Ba Bong Bong BONNNG
Okay this is an old post, but I have to post my funny lehigh acres picture. Our realtor said she would not recommend buying a place in Lehigh Acres, but I wanted to go anyway because there were some houses with pools there. Anyway, this is the bong display in the convenience store we stopped at on the way into Lehigh Acres. In addition to this extensive display of "water pipes", they also had a refrigerator full of 40's Shawty. LOL
As an apology to ppl who live in Lehigh, while this picture still makes me laugh a lot, the place did not look that bad. We saw one house in a area with some very nice looking neighbors. It was a quiet pretty street and the house was not bad. I think Lehigh Acres has a bad reputation because the houses are cheaper and there are a lot of "grow house busts" but I think that the local government needs $$ and busting drug dealers seems like an easy way to get lots of cash.
Cops have mortgages too, duuude.
Darn I just clicked on insert picture, and I have to have a URL. Too lazy to sign up for flikr and unwilling to use my own website for security reasons. Sigh. Pls imagine the picture.

ok, ok.. just kidding guys (& gals...).
Yeah, yeah...a real jokester, sheesh...sigh...
But seriously now...the footage on weekend t.v. looks super nice... all green, with lots of open space, horses...though, not hilly like Clermont or Ocala but still looks nice. Anyhow, I guess one has to live there to really know what's up...

Everyone Says That
Having only visited Lehigh Acres once, this is my opinion. It was not that bad. I get the feeling that some people are upset because they got burned by high housing prices. If I had paid over 300K for a house that I was hoping to sell or refinance, I would be bitter, too!
We did not see any crime--or many people for that matter--on our trip there. The area is very far away from any commercial areas, and I think jobs may be hard to come by. The area also has a bad reputation because of "grow house busts" and the fact that it's less expensive.
Neverthless, I think it would be a good place if you're looking for a cheap place to live and you're retiring. If you have a bunch of old friends and you can get a new house there for 50 - 60K why not?
We saw a house on one street that was very well kept with some very nice-looking older neighbors. We also looked at some houses that were in areas that looked "deserted." If you are looking for a cheap place to live and you don't need a job, I think moving there would not be a bad idea. Just my 2 cents.
