Cherrydale Ct off S Pointe? It's not a bad area...a bit older and a bit quiet, not ghetto or hood.

Is Sandalwood a community, street, avenue, court or what?

Like was said, South Point is between Colonial & College Parkway. Older, but nice area. I considered buying a condo in there at one point but then bought my aunt's small single family house in Cape Coral when she died.

We purchased a home at Lennar's Portico community. Address is Fort Myers but it's north east of the city. Off Palm Beach Blvd at Buckingham Road. It's a gated community so we feel much safer. Not sure exactly how the crime is out that way but we're not far from Alva.

I was told this area was pretty safe but I'm coming down from Baltimore so anything is safer than there. We close the end of May. Looking forward to exploring the area soon.

Sam

I'm not familiar with this area of Ft. Myers/Buckingham, however keep in mind you would be pretty far out of town. I'd say you really need to explore the area first and talk to people (with no interest in selling you something) locally to get a good idea of what to expect. I would caution anyone buying or building sight/city unseen.

Especially if building... I imagine most folks will spend a lot on upgrades to their taste. If you end up not liking the area/community, it could be very costly to sell when factoring in any depreciation from new construction and realtor commissions.

If you're already fully committed to the home in Portico I wish you good luck and hope that you like the area.
