Lulz they always pitch it as a tourism and job creation play. In the end it works for neither and you get a handful of min wage jobs and a new hangout for local degenerates and deadbeat dads.

As someone who lives in NJ and has seen the influx of Casinos in the Tri-State Area (NY, NJ, PA), these Casinos do not live up to the hype. Atlantic City is disgusting. Prostitutes, Drug Addicts, and etc. Ft. Myers is too nice of an area to fall into the same trap. I'm in the process of moving down full-time to SWFL, no need or desire to see Ft. Myers become the next Atlantic City. I've been to Immokalee Casino once and left smelling like I smoked a pack of cigarettes; and I don't smoke. I've been to Vegas as well and we can see how well it has help the economy there. One of 2nd largest areas in the US to be hit by the Real Estate bubble.
