Default Are you ok in cape coral ?

My dopey son [LOL] was on the phone with me yesterday [he lives in Napels] and was complaining that they broke in at the end of the jet game to say there was a tornado in the cape. How bad was it and where was it ? are you all OK? I hope so.

Hi, NY62. I'm in North Ft. Myers, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Cape Coral. According to the news, it wasn't a real bad one. No one hurt seriously, just a minor injury. Most of it was centered around a 3-block area. I think I heard that 60 houses were damaged. They showed one house's roof just peeling off like a banana peel, and some cars that had been picked up and tossed around, landing on top of each other. Thank goodness nobody was hurt badly. I'll tell you, though, we watched the storm from our lanai and the sky over that way was really, really weird. To our right, the sky was as black as a moonless night. To the left, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. We both thought "tornado sky" but poo-poo'd the idea. Thanks for asking about it.

As far as I'm concerned it was nasty you can view some good video and pictures at NBC-2.com - #1 News and weather site in Southwest Florida. One video shows it coming right down this guys street, just glad no one was seriously hurt it could have been much worse.

Thank you very much. We had no idea, and have a lot of family there. We'll make phone calls.

I hope NYBill and all the other great people on this forum that live there are okay.

At least nobody was hurt, and nothing historic or significant was destroyed.
