I anyone familiar with this community? Area, Etc? I guess I'm most interested in how the area around it is since it's gated. The pictures on Realtor.com make it seem nice. We are thinking about a second home situation.

That is up near Tice (I think) No way in a thousand years would I buy anywhere in that area. Do your self a favor, stay south of Colonial (even better is south of College Pkwy) and West of Summerlin. That is what they call the South Ft. Myer Corridor. Prettier, safe, values more stable, very nice area with nice neighborhoods not surrounded by the "hood" if ya know what I mean. Take it from me, I have had a place in South Ft. Myers for 3 years.

Default Pine Ridge 55+ Community

Pine Ridge 55+ Community is located near Palm Beach Blvd & Orande River Blvd, Ft Myers. Please advise about neighborhood and community activities. We are considering a winter vacation home and it appears to be a nice community.

sjrgmoore,I'm very familiar with that area.......had a vacation home for about 10 years in that neighborhood.
Here's the deal.....within the communities themselves, there is no problem because everyone knows each other and strangers would be out of place.Every now and then some contractors crew might steal a tool or something, but no real crime.Very safe.
Outside of the communities on Orange River Blvd ,Palm Beach Blvd and side streets, there has been an influx of people you probably wouldn't invite to your home and, even though most retired folks wouldn't be targeted,I wouldn't walk around at night with your Rolex.
Drive east on PBB for shopping....new Publix and nice stores up towards Buckinham. All the stores and shops on the east side of PPB have bars on the windows and most signs are in Spanish. You know you're in a tough neighborhood when you have a pawn shop, bail bonds and payday loans in the same building.
