Day Labor
Hi. NFM refugee from Las Vegas. It was common out there to go to certain locations to find folks to do day labor---the heavy lifting I didn't want to do myself. Is there such a place here, or where does one find people to dig trees, scrap sod, move rock...whatever. Thanks

You can also just post an ad on Craigslist under gigs. I got a couple guys to help me move that way and then used them again to dig a few holes for some plants and trees.

I second the Craigs List recommendation. We found good people on there to do some heay grunt work for a reasonable (cash) price. Frankly we have not noticed any locations in the Cape or Ft Myers which would fit the "Home Depot" type pickup spots like seen in many of the sanctuary cities elsewhere in the US. It's a completely different world over here compared with the SW USA...

There are a couple- if you go on Palm Beach Blvd in Tice there are many guys hanging out in the parking lots and the other place was mentioned to me by someone else who used them- apparently there is a rescue mission in fort myers that there are men who are willing to do this work for extra money- the person that referred me to them called first and went to pick the men up- here is the link
