Gateway, Miromar, Quail West, Spanish Wells, Botanica Lakes, Colonial Country Club.

If you drive Tree Line from Colonial to Corkscrew and then Three Oaks to Bonita Beach Rd. you will be in a pathway that contains housing from $50k to $4.5M.

If you are looking for a more contemporary area, stay in the tree line corridor, if you are looking for budget and contemporary stay in the 3 oaks corridor.

From either corridor you have all of South Fort Myers, 3 malls, tons of restaurants, FGCU and golf at your disposal.

There are many rentals in these areas, if you can wait another three weeks, the traffic will thin out and the rental market will be more realistic. Febuary to Mid April is our season. Our population is double in some areas. With less demand you will be in a better position to negotiate a rental or a purchase.

there is also Paseo just 5 minutes the other side of 75 from the airport, in the Daniels corridor, up Palimino/Penzance, far down a safe dead end away from any trouble, gated, and a tiki bar scene for 20 somethings as well as retirees and everyone in between.

Townhouses start around 180k or rent for 1800 per month unfurnished. Owning (utilities, condo fees, taxes) costs about 900 per month before mortgage payment. There are also single family homes upward of 500k if that is what you like.

Ok sorry should have been more clear, when I said small budget I only meant home prices. It was becuase of this post:

Most are directed at people coming in with small budgets thinking they will find a decent area to live where the best they could realistically do would be a place in the hood.
Seems like you can still get a pretty nice 3/2/2 home in the 250-300 k range would most agree that would keep someone out of the hood?

A canal home would be nice because we boat but it seems that the only canal homes in that range are in Port Charlotte. We are just starting to look, it is hard as both of us have jobs and both getting something down there at the same time is tough.

250 to 300K will definitely get you a nice place out of the hood.

Don't know about canal homes though.
