Direct tv (or satellite) experiences outages during heavy thunderstorms, despite their claims it has gotten better, it still happens. Of course this is a major concern typically on summer afternoons in this area.

Prism. My personal experience, pretty decent, but the volume control is a royal pain. It lags, and slowly moves up/down, making it difficult to find the right level. Then it constantly fluctuates. The best solution is use two remotes. Set the volume on the cable box, and use the volume control on the TV to adjust volume. It sounds like a minor inconvenience, to be sure. But it really does get old.......fast.

YC.......

Is Prism avail in NW? I am having problems finding any carrier for tv (any kind) for the NW area. Am I really that far away from civilization?

Can't comment on Century Link. I've got Directv and you will have outages even with moderate rainfall. The only time it is an inconvenience for me is in the evening when I'm recording programs so it screws up my recordings, any other time if live tv is out I'll just watch something on the DVR as you can still watch recordings even during weather outages.

I live the NW and have had Directv for quite some time and other than having an occasional outage during a heavy rainstorm, it has been fine. I would definately recommend them.
