Agree.

I would also recommend "The Golf Club", or what use to be the Golf Club in SE Cape Coral. My aunt has lived there for 12 years, she loves it. She has nice neighbors and it is a very quiet neighborhood. SE Cape Coral, along Country Club, and other parts, are very nice. (P.S.- The Golf Club two main streets are Wildwood Pkwy. and Palm Tree Blvd., if anybody wants to know.)
I don't think people will lie about the area, Well I take that back. People will lie to sell the area. The crime will always be higher someplace else. The Gulf Club area has no Gulf course. And the crime is high in that area. No one wants to say they live in a bad area. But Cape Coral is on its way.

If you think the Golf Club area has high crime (or any area of Cape Coral for that matter) you either have no idea what you're talking about OR you're from the north pole.
I'm not saying there is no crime, but very little compared to other cities.

I'd 2nd the SE of the Cape to be a decent area. City water and sewer went in years ago so most properties already have the assessements paid. Plus, as it's more built up, you aren't going to find a new Home Depot being dumped on your doorstep. There just isn't any space for it.

There's still space though. My house has empty lots to one side and the rear.

Well said MikeP!!

Firemed, there is not crime in The Golf Club. I want to know where you live in Cape Coral (SW, SE, NW, NE.) But, I can tell you 100%, there isn't crime in The Golf Club, there hasn't been for 12+ years.

I do remember when fences couldn't be more than 4 ft. and I do remember the pick up law which was very stupid IMO but I never heard about "Little Russia". Please enlighten me.

When I first found this site I was quite taken back about all the negativity and started asking friends because I though maybe I wasn't seeing something but they don't see it as a bad place either.

Cape Coral long ago was often called "Little Russia" due to some of the extremely stupid ordinances they had on the books. Ever hear of some one getting a $40 ticket only because they had a flat tire on their own car sitting in their own driveway? I have cause it happen to me. There were, and to this day still are, some very dumb laws that city has. Also it is filled with corruption. Example; the city sewer project, Back when it first started it was known as the "Dual Water" project. When this started there was a man who was very outspoken about being against the whole deal and he started getting a lot of attention. That same man somehow ended up with a bullet in his head in his own house. After that no one really wanted to speak out against that project. And the city FORCES you to hook up. If you don't they will place a lien against your house. So far that lien is around $18,000. This has led many people to see hard times and forced to leave their homes. With that assessment and the outrages taxes the city is charging many people have had no other choice but to leave. I hope this small glance is helpful to you to better understand why the cape is known as Little Russia.

mike;

this sounds pretty straight forward...we are looking for a recreational home with gulf access in SW coral.......as a second home we are told to expect a 3k amonth maintenace bill between taxes, Insurance , water and oth charges....that seemed unreal to us .. whats your take on this?? we are concerned mostly with the cost of maintening a home,,, we have seen that there is a significant inventory of homes and our price range 3-4 hundred K is good for the area....recreation and safety are the issues as well
