Fuzzy - AUT,
"With City utilities" means the home is hooked up to city water and sewer and you'll recieve a monthly bill for them ($70ish in most cases).
All the negitive posters love to talk about the assesments that are due when these utilites are hooked up. I agree it is a pain, but they never mention that you pay $20,000 to $30,000+ less for homes that do not have these utilites already in and paid. So it's really a wash.
Certainly it would stink to buy a home without city utilities and then have them forced on you, but as I said you're saving money on the home.

One more thought...
I wonder how all the people who complain about Cape Coral's ordainances would feel about the city allowing grass 2 feet high, appliances, trash and junk cars in the yard, ect....
Sure some of the rules do seems tough, but I like the fact that the city prevents homes from looking like junkyards.
I'll bet the same people complaining about the rules would complain about junk!

some people just complain to complain. They could be living in the perfect place and still find something to complain about. by the way for all you folks complaining, there is no such place, no matter where you go there will be something. I have found that most people that are not happy , are really not happy with themselves. People with nothing can be happy where people with everything can be miserable. one more thing for all you folks looking back at the way it used to be, the whole country has changed not just cape coral and fort myers. enjoy the good things and the bad will not seem so bad.

You just went to 21 MikeP

One of these days we'll take a drive down and look around. We live in Port Charlotte and it's tough to grow Ficus or Coconut Palms here. I assume it's no problem in CC. ( it's just a few degrees too cold in the winter here in PC , yes just a few )

Grind an axe? I was personally involved with the wonderful city of Cape Coral. It has been brought to my attention that some not so nice things have been said since I left.
Well, as anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a straight shooter.
I will try to stay on track and not stray too far from the point.

For one thing, the crime in the city is well covered up. Most of the crime is petty, but it is plentiful. Although a shooting and loss of life right in the lobby of the police station may seem like more to some people. Let's just brush that under the rug.

Our wonderful officials in the building department should be proud. They may not only have contributed to the property values in the Cape going in the toilet but I happen to know first hand that they are as crooked as they come and in a place where we are lucky to hold down the fort when the wind blows, letting it slide seems to be the standard as opposed to the exception to the rule.

As for all who read this and get their shorts in a bunch just try to keep in mind that our government is supposed to protect us and those who we elected do not seem to be acting on our behalf. The good citizens take a back seat to acts of selfishness and nepotism.

To name a few of our good men, whose salaries we pay, do not take your eyes off of June in city hall, and test the knowledge of Ted Timberlake or the integrity and honesty of "good ole boy" Bill Saliva. Ole Billy ought to be ashamed of himself.

I do not intend to waste my time as a regular here, so do not fret.
I am not bitter or that concerned about the repercussions of this post.
I just want those who are open-minded and still give a rats #*% about the Cape and its good people to be aware that it is a new day and change is not only good, but sorely needed in this town.

I have to laugh when I hear people complain about corrupt politicians. All of these things you write about are nothing new in other places. anyone from Long Island can admit to that, we have been corrupt for years, and it is still going on. Check out the latest with the lawyers being on the payroll four four school districts full time for each ? and there own firm, and getting free benefits from the taxpayers. Only in america. LOL

Default I agree Mike!!

I have NEVER lived in a place where there are MORE things for kids to do!!!! And I've lived across the country. Our park and library systems are the best!! Be it Lee or Collier county. The kids have cooking classes, cultural/music events, Reptile man comes every year to most of the parks with all his snakes...I could go on and on, but there is SO much to do. And yes, when my kids were younger, there are numerous MOMS clubs, with even more to keep you and your kids occupied!! I keep a calendar of all our choices, listed...1, 2, per weekend day. And when they were younger and I was home, per day!! This is tops for families! Maybe for young single adults, who have different interests than what IS here, they might complain they are a little "bored" (my young adult son does). But I have been kept ever so happily busy with my younger one!

Mike.
It sounds like you know the area.
I'm coming to the Fort Meyers area to visit my in-laws.
We are making a mini-vacation out of the trip, do you know of any place near that you can take a airboat ride and see some gators and other wildlife. We are bring our kids and looking for things to do.
Any info would be appreciated.
