Is it possible to find a 3BR +1400sf home, for under $200K, in a safe, family-friendly area, within 30 minutes of the beach? It doesn't have to be new, but we can't take on a fixer-upper, and I'd prefer something after the new hurricane requirements went into effect. (2002?)

We have a 10yo and will have a student in college (not at home). Dh has a good, solid income; however, we are also providing separate housing and all living expenses for two elderly relatives. We will start out homeschooling, but may eventually want ds to return to public schools.

The job is already set; Dh will be working remotely, but we have other relatives in Naples, so might like to stay reasonably close to the area.

Could we find something like this in North Naples, Ft. Meyers, Estero, Cape Coral, etc?

We will be visiting in a couple of weeks to get a feel for the area.

go on Zillow.com and put in your criteria, there should be hundreds if not thousands to choose from in Ft Myers and Cape Coral. Estero tends to be more expensive.

Thanks for such a quick response! We have looked on both Zillow and Realtor.com, and have found many houses, but we can't tell what the different areas are like. We'll know more in a few weeks, once we've been there, but I am wondering if we would be wasting our time even looking around the area. Dh will be working remotely, so we can focus on another part of the state, too. We are also considering the Port St. Lucie area.

I just did a quick search on Zillow and there were two properties in SW cape Coral that caught my eye. One was for 159k which was built in 2004, nice neighborhood, good location sw 30th st. the other was also in the SW near Lake Finisterie for 199k but this one was brand new.
