Not bad actually, little early for Tarpon but inshore guys have been doing OK with snook, reds and sea trout. Sheepshead are abundant as usuall as well as spanish macks. ( great Tarpon bait)

I heard of one Tarpon being caught the other day which for this time of year is very promising for the next few months when they really turn on..

Even though we have had rain problem it keeps the Lake O water levels at a reasonable level thus creating less releases into the river.

Lots of new turtle grass around also which is a great sign of recovery.

Off shore the Grouper season opens back up on 3/16 but some people have been doing well in state waters with some nice gags being taken.

Onto homes Watching the news lately there might be another Fed cut this week which will eventually help with interest rates, Big difference in payin 6 1/2 - 7% when rates might drop as low as 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 hopefully in the near future, all depends on the bond market and maybe the banking situation will get fixed also.

I got mine @ 5 1/4 when I refinaced 3 years ago

I would start looking around NOW and if something has your interest make the move.

As my buddy in commercial construction said the other day, ( when he played hooky and we fished...LOL) he thinks that the bottom has arrived and all the people who waited might be in for a pleasent surpise. There has been a lot of activity showing homes but I guess eveyone is looking to hit a home run, which you can't blame them.

Let me know when your coming down.

A ghost town? Oh, come on! It's not that bad. Maybe the NE or NW part is looking a little empty, but hasn't it almost always looked that way? If you check out Pine Island Rd. nowadays, it's wayyyy busier than it has ever been in my entire life.

I do have to agree with the job situation being kind of junky though. I graduated college last May with 2 BAs and it took me 3 months to find a job. I've still been looking for something more in my field and it's hard. I don't get too many callbacks and I normally end up losing out to a person with more experience. There's just so many people competing for the jobs I'm qualified for down here it seems. BUT if you have a background in healthcare or sales or hospitality or marketing or business, it looks like you'd have no problem finding a job.

However, I know I am lucky to have a job and I'm not really complaining. It could be much worse. I just want to utilize my degrees but isn't that what any college graduate wants?

Congrats BacktoFLIgo on getting three callbacks! In what field are you looking?

Dont think it is just Florida, I had plenty of college grads working in the deli at a supermarket here in NY. They could not get jobs to quick either. Your correct in being happy you just have a job for now. Good luck One other thing I always wondered how do you get experience if no one gives you a shot ??? dumb huh ?

I have been into property/apartment management in the maintenance/technical part. I do the HVAC repairs and installations, plumbing, electrical, pretty much fix everything that breaks or the residents destroy. I am thinking about going into just air conditioning. I have my HVAC certification, I got it back in 1995. I have to go to Estero Tuesday for an interview at a really nice, smaller property. thankfully it is in Estero.

I lived in the area for 11 years. My husband lived there for 25. We have family in the area - a lot of family - mostly in Cape Coral. Two houses are up for foreclosure.

If you are in property maintenance, I would think that you have a VERY good chance of landing a job. There has got to be a lot of call for that right now. With every crisis, comes opportunity.

There are a lot more reasons for foeclosures then meet the eye.

Some people, not aimed at you H/K or your friends, who when things were good took home equity lines of credit out. (I did but never used it, just a tool if needed.)

Bought all sorts of toys on there LOC and never thought that the bottom would fall out. Now that's a tough wake up call. Then the economy changed and most of these peole had adjustable rate mortgages to boot.

Does the light come on now

Bottom line in any language spells diaster.

I can't agree with you more. One relative got in over her head, never expecting to pay the mortgage, but hoping that prices would keep going up so she could sell. In the meantime, she kept refinancing and has nothing to show for it, now. Crazy.

The other relative did have health issues, but they could have worked out something, but, instead they also banked on prices to continue to soar.

Lee County did nothing to these people. The area did nothing to these people. They did it to themselves.

It doesn't change the mess that the area is in.
