Question moving to fort myers

im thinking of moving to south-western florida, like the fort myers area...im 18 so i want to be able to live affordably and be able to find a decent job either waitressing or as a receptionist (im working two jobs right now, waitressing at night and full time as a receptionist, so i can save some money.) does anyone have any suggestions on some nice towns in the fort myers area?

there is really not much to do in Ft myers, except for boating if your into that type of activity. The job market is not the best

Default Ft Myers

There are plenty of waitressing type jobs & depending on where you are moving from you will make A LOT more. When first moving here I did the same thing and made anywhere from $500-$1200/week. I quickly found a professional job making $60k without a problem. It depends on what you are looking to do here. There is a lot of boating, quieter night life. It's not a huge city but there is plenty to do.

Very good questions Katie. My advice to you is to really investigate the area before moving.

Milabs will become famous soon enough
I suggest you take a week or so and visit the area. Get in touch with apt complexes...the rent just might shock you..and at 18 you might have a hard time making it there alone...you won't have a hard time finding a job for sure...jobs are a dime a dozen and while you can make good money waiting tables I'm sure you want a more reliable income.

You also want to be careful about which part of Fort Myers you live...stay away from anything in East Fort Myers..especially anything off of Palm Beach Blvd unless you go out way pass I75. Stay away from Central Fort Myers as well...drugs and violence galore...just read the local Fort Myers News Press online for more info...you can also see what rents are going for and what kinds of job are available for you.
