To the poster with the child that has a IEP my wife is a special ed teacher in Cape Coral and the best I can tell you is be very involved with your childs teacher and make it known at his/her school that you expect for them to provide the accomodations outlined in their iep. The school system here is not good compared to north east and north western states,the schools are horrible when it comes to students with iep's. Its not usually due to the teachers but rather the idiot principals that they have,there is a reason why last year several schools here had over 60 teachers leave. Many transferred to other schools but a lot just flat out quit the profession rather than teach here. My best advise is get your child into a private school if you can afford it,my wife has been in special ed for 20 years now with the last 5 here and she is about to quit teaching it has become such a battle here providing for the students with iep's.
