What are you guys getting at? Basically that is some fantasy sales pitch for Pine Island.

Pine Island basically bites the big one if you want any sort of convenience, if you don't and you are looking to escape New England to be a recluse then you might be on to something.

Introverted, and don't mind driving 20+ miles for any modern conveniences. Then Pine Island is for you!

Otherwise, steer clear. Seriously Pine Island isn't going no where fast. I saw this 30 years ago in CC and just now, is it a small town. Seriously it took Cape Coral about 40 years to be a normal small town. With that in mind, Pine Island should be like Cape Coral in about 40 years.

Ess, you are right - up to a point. The island is quiet, slow, and very rural. Some will like it, others will hate it. All according to what one is looking for in their living environment.

I moved here just about 4 yrs ago, and I like it. I have never been one to like city life and traffic and am ok with the drive to the mainland for serious shopping.

When I do head over to the Cape or Ft Myers it's like an adventure for sure. And usually I can't wait to get back over our little bridge to the quiet. It's not for everyone or will it fit most peoples needs or wants.

Will the island change with the coming years? Sure it will, it will change and grow as more wish to move here. Hopefully it never becomes Sanibel or Marco.....that would be a shame.

I love Pine Island but alas can not afford the homes for sale there with out taking out a mortgage, not something I want to do at this stage of my life.

But, when I read, "...very last Florida Island...", I read that sentence again, because I assumed I must have read it wrong. I thought nobody could be that "geographically challenged".
Oh good grief get over yourself

To the BOCC and attys, I'm asking you to Defend the Plan. You are being held hostage by 8 law suits and the threat of a mere 51 more. But we number in the thousands, we vote and we will remember what you choose to do to the Pine Island Plan. We are the people and the ball is in your court. Do the right thing now or you will kill Pine Island. It won't be good.
Sadly, this reminds me of the efforts maybe 30-35 years ago residents of the Keys made to keep the Keys undeveloped. Sad because they lost their battle to the moneyed big developers despite their efforts. I hope the efforts of the Pine Island residents succeed in keeping their island pristine.

njkate- there are homes on the island in just about every price range- from $100,000 and up. Of course the bigger the more $$$. But there are some very nice smaller homes for pretty reasonable prices.
