I've never seen it, but I've read plenty about it. So I know what you're talking about. The dolphins swim in circles around a school of tuna to keep them from escaping, then it's dinner time. I suppose the canals allow individual dolphins, not just large groups, to hunt for fish, with the canal walls acting as man-made constraints. After all, most are narrow enough to allow two dolphins to swim side-by-side at most. And I'm sure the dolphins are smart enough to know all this. Plus, I'm sure they like convenience just as much as we humans do, even if the canal fish is less clean than the open-water fish.

This was on Marco, and at the time there were enough concerns w/manatee to hold up the project and change many aspects. However, if you look up the Esplanade you will see a marina was eventually built. The same could be done on the cape, just be prepared for some hurdles.

The Esplanade is a very nice little development. CJ's is one of my favorite restaurants in SWFL, more for relaxing at the patio bar than for the food.
