My last check I should do one of these days is the breaker to the fridge, to turn it off and listen for a couple days. I just have to find a suitable nearby plug for the fridge. I believe it's a standard (120v?) plug vs the big ones for the clothes dryer(240v?). Let me go try that now...
Yes fridges run on normal plugs, only dryers and hot water heaters and stoves normally need 220. Does your fridge have water and ice on the door, maybe it's an indicator that the filter needs changing.

IF you ask in the house forum you might get a better answer since it's not localized and people from the whole country can answer and find a possible culprit.

I just had a strange ringing sound in my house. It turned out to be a handheld Sodoku game with nearly dead batteries.

Standard light bulbs with filaments can vibrate and cause a high pitched ringing.

Hey there,
We just moved into a house and kept hearing what I would describe as the high pitch sound of a power tool (sander, grinder)...something like that, could be described as a type of ringing. Anyhow, it turned out to be the air vent on the roof that spins... depending on the wind. It doesn't make sound all the time, but I notice the neighbor houses also have these spinning roof vents that make the high pitch sound. Hope that helps.

Get a recorder and put it in different rooms, play back the noise to see where it was the loudest. Then move it around in the room, and see where its louder again. May take a few days, but you can narrow it down.

You will also have it recorded so you can turn it up and play it back over and over, and you or some one else may recognize the sound.

I had this once and it drove me nuts. Turns out it was a portable voice recorder low battery alert.

Look through any left over unpacked or stored boxes. Likely some long forgotten battery operated device. You'll find it.
Luggage, travel alarm? Old cell phone?

Check your attic for smoke/fire alarm. Sounds like low battery.
