I'm plenty happy in Cape Coral. The weather has been GORGEOUS. I got to BBQ some shrimp and watch the sunset the other night. It was super nice!

I am pretty sure that the sun sets in other areas and I think shrimp is sold all over the country and BBQ's too! We loved to BBQ outside in the winter when we lived in DC, put on a coat, the grill works the same! Yes, we have had nice weather for the past week but everywhere has nice weather once in awhile. Two months ago, we were all avoiding heat stroke. It is not worth it.

Thought the same thing. Good little cold spell w/ temps in the 40s has whipped through NE OH & we have been grilling out b/c we are remodeling the kitchen.

The 3 or 4 months of "nice" weather in SWFL cannot even compensate for the remaining months of unrelenting heat, humidity, bugs & sweat.

All I know is it is not SW FL & I can watch the sun set here also.

My wife got a kick out of your comment on the weather in NE OH. She is born and raised there and she said get back with us in Jan. You will be dreaming of a sunset.

Anybody that says South florida does not have nice winters is not being honest.

The weather we are having in SWFL right now is why people move here. Enjoy your snow up north soon. Gotta go kick on the pool heater so I can keep on swimming a few more weeks. And what a beautiful sunset today... ahhhhhhhhhh!

Here's the deal. Some people like to swim all year, or, at least eight months of the year. Some people like to see actual seasons and become excited when it snows, and like sitting in front of the fireplace.

And that's fine, because otherwise, we'd be all smooshed into the same state.

But southwest Florida, that's a land all unto itself.

And you can have it.

I was born & raised in NE OH. Lived in 7 other states & 2 countries due to military obligations. Have seen all sorts of things; lived with all sorts of weather, crime & socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nothing compares to Fort Myers. I wouldn't wish that area of SW FL on my worst enemy.

Sun sets everywhere. I could care less if I ever step foot in SW FL again.

To each their own.

I've noticed certain changes over the years as a frequent visitor to SWFL. I spend most of my time in South Fort Myers which seems to be pretty good, but the break neck pace of development is having a negative effect.

I disagree. I live in a lovely area by the yacht club; we rent for $850.00/mo, and it is a beautiful house, quiet neighborhood, and low crime. I also did a sexual preditor search and there were ZERO within a few block vicitnity; something that is very rare these days! With housing prices so low now, you can definately find something for under $850.I warn u tho, water is much more expensive here tho. Go figure. Oh, and regarding the old farts..im a young 47, and I am quite content here. Personally, id ratehr be around harmless old farts than young gangsters who will rob, rape and distroy.
