We're hoping to move to SW Florida too, we're in Wisconsin. Last night we had 12 inches of snow, and the Milwaukee airport was closed. It's the biggest airport in the state. 
We've visited down there many times, we tend to like Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda the best. |

PLEASE RENT WHERE EVER YOU you think you'd like to live. otherwise your stuck. I'm in Ft Myers, been up to Punta Gorda to help out with the hurricane repair. Their a few years behind this area, but nice places. Rent first and drive around while your here just to be sure.

its the narrow top of the state over the gulf, looks like a handle.
I think Texas has one too.

I come down to fla every chance I get from Connecticut, know what you mean about the snow! we have settled in port charlotte, and adore it! have met wonderful people here and I wouldnt trade this move for the world!
