Hi,
We are new to this whole "school choice" decision process. We are in the East Zone (E-2), and need to register our grandson for kindergarten. Can anyone help me out and suggest some schools to visit/choose between? We are not adverse to uniform requirements (in fact, I like the idea, but it would not be a main priority), but only want to look at "A" schools if possible. I found ratings for most of the schools, but not G. Weaver Hipps, Manatee or Treeline (which I know is moving this fall). We would also consider private schools in the area. We're also new to the idea of busing, so would appreciate feedback on the issue, especially for kindergarteners. Also, feedback on the VPK summer program and/or schools where held would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any feedback! |

Do know that school choice does not necessarily mean you will get the school of your choice.
I'm not familiar with any of the schools in the eastern part of the county, so I am unable to offer opinions. |

Yes, thank you. I do know that much, and I also (now) know I missed the first lottery(?) date. The good news is at this point in time, there is room in every kindergarten class in every school in our district so there is still a possibility of getting our first choice. We're still in NJ (due to unforeseeable family issues) so I will be taking a trip to Fl to visit a few schools and enroll him for the upcoming school year.

Oh, wow!
I was going to say that I was standing at the doors when they opened for school choice, back in 2005, and we didn't even get our third choice. Know what? It doesn't matter! Times are changed and I am sure that the schools are no longer crowded. Sorry for giving you irrelevant information! ![]() |
