I am planning to move to Cape Coral from New York City in the next few years and am curious about employment opportunities. I am in my early-30s and currently work in marketing for a major financial corporation. Do any companies have headquarters in the area? Also, the property that I plan on moving to is in the NW section, just above Embers Pkwy - How is this as far as location to stores, businesses, schools, etc... ? Thanks

Cape Coral has had a lot of business development in the last few years. You'll be close to groceries/schools/basic businesses. Aside from the basics, most people in Ft. Myers (30 minutes away from your area).
As far as professional employment opportunities, Cape Coral has few. It's a residential city with most residents working in Ft. Myers. There are many companies HQ'd here...with your marketing background you may want to consider Chico's, HQ'd in Ft. Myers. While the cost of living is significantly cheaper, your salary will be much less than in the NYC area, so be prepared for that! |

And with the economy, there are not a whole lot of jobs here to begin with. It's a lot different than a couple years back. I'm having a really hard time finding anything, because so many people are out of work it's a mad dash to find work. Lots of competition.

Same for me...I'm living on my savings. If you are bilingual it might help, but there is a lot of competition so employers can afford to be choosy and offer low wages. I used to sell furniture and 3 stores I've worked in have shut within the past 2 years.

If your background is in financial, the most likley best fit for you in Cape Coral would be Russ Whitney, Int'l. A big outfit that does training seminars in financial related services. Headquarters right on the corner of Del Prado and Cape Coral Pkwy. Outside of that, you'll find the employment market here a very, very desolate place.

You might want to do some research on Whitney Group. And that's all I'll say on the matter.
