Default San Carlos Park or Cape

I have been looking at homes in South Cape Coral, but recently saw a few in San Carlos Park. I'm moving down from VA in 2 weeks so I don't know that area too well. Can anyone tell me what San Carlos Park is like compared to South Cape? Please keep in mind that I have 2 young kids so I don't want to live in a high crime area.

Thanks for your help (:

Hi! I don't know Cape Coral area, so I can only tell you about San Carlos Park. Right now I am renting in Naples, and have been so for the past 4 years. I have a bid in a house in San Carlos Park, and am awaiting an answer. I was choosing between San Carlos and Golden Gate Estates (an area in Naples). San Carlos is very family oriented, and since I have two children, it was important to me to have a "neighborhood". I come from Philadelphia, so this is nothing like the crime I have experienced...but it seems pretty decent to me.

Don't move to San Carlos unless it is apart of the Three Oaks area. The rest of SC is dicey with a nice home next to a POS on every street. Historically it has been the armpit of Ft. Myers with alot of drugs and crime. I would stay away if you can.

Default San Carlos Park/ Home for sale or rent

I have a wonderful family home for rent in San Carlos Park. The home is three bedroom, two baths, completely remodeled. New roof, new air conditioner, new tile floors, new carpet, new bathrooms, new kitchen and all new appliance ( tumbled marble back splash) . Large fenced yard, double lot. It is a great family neighboorhood.

Call to rent, with or without option to buy. Price is negotiable

ive been trying to make the same choice- SC or the cape. i recently decided on SC because of the proxmity to fl gulf coast u and the local news. the cape seemes to have gotten much worse since the resession. every night you can count on something really bad happening in lehigh and something bad in the cape, SC is hardly ever mentioned. good luck with ur choice!

I just closed on a house in SC this past Thursday. I too was deciding between SC and the Cape and ended up choosing SC because of its proximity to everything. I also did not like the idea of having to pay to cross a bridge all the time. Yes, my neighborhood is a mixture of older and new homes but I think they complement each other nicely and look forward to moving in to it.

Rent in San Carlos first, do not buy anywhere until you've personally been there for at least 9 to 12 months. I own 2 homes in san carlos park, My son is i one and my daughter will be moving into the other soon. There is a real mixed bag of people there. There might be a really nice home there next to a slum. kinda extreme but there are no restrictions there so anything goes. We lived there 10 years ago for 10 months until we found our home which is fairly close to "the park" (That's what SC is starting to be called.) The sale values in the park are GREAT RIGHT NOW! You can find a 2 or 3 bedroom home there for under $80,000. Stay out of Cape Coma! unless your over 65. It's full of older retirees and lots of strange laws.

I am looking at this specific property 7525 Garry Rd (next to SC Golf). It is an older house. Is it a good neighborhood? Also, it is listed as central water, but septic. Is that normal in FM area? To the other philadelphian on this forum - we are from philadelphia looking to relocate to FM area.

We have a home that is technically in SCP. However, it's further down, one block to Estero. The fire chief lives on our street. I think this area is better. We are selling very soon though, as we are moving up north. My street is full of kids and families, and the bus picks up right at the culdesac. Our home is large (2300 sq. feet) 3 bed 2 1/2 bath, caged pool with 1/2 acre property we fenced in last year. Barrel tile roof, fireplace, etc. I think in this area you'll see better return on investment, and know that the area is the most up and coming in Ft Myers/Naples area. 2 miles to Coconut POint Mall, and hop skip and jump to the beach at Bonita. Right near Naples, no tolls, and easy commute up to central Ft Myers.
