Yep, they tend to have a rule against everything. Some people see it as them trying to keep things nice, but they do tend to go waaaaaaaaaaay overboard IMO.

Remember the no van or pickup law they had years ago ? You could park any crap piece of car in your driveway, but no vans or pickups were allowed, and had to be inside your garage at night, regardless of if it was a really nice non business vehicle or not.

Thankfully, enough young people moved in and that law was finally overturned , much to the chagrin of the old farts who got that law passed in the first place.

There used to be an old man who walked every day with a little ruler in his hand. If he saw a lawn that was over the height permitted in the Cape, he would turn you in. Too much time on his hands, for sure.

You still have code enforcement driving around the city looking for. Violations. Yes, they still measure your lawn and still give warnings/tickets about your trash cans and open garage doors. Of course, the neighbors are free to call in any violations they ‘see’... and they do.

I hope are party boater knows what he got himself into by moving to CC.

Sounds like you'd be much happier in N.Ft Meyers...….maybe Suncoast Estates would work for you.
Much less restrictive than all the "HOA" rules in Cape Coral

First of all, it’s Myers not Meyers. If you’re going to attempt to insult someone, at least use correct spelling. @@

Where did I say that I didn’t like Cape Coral? I don’t recall asking for moving advice or suggestions on locations in Lee County. I grew up in Cape Coma... moved there in 1976 and lived there for many years.... I know quite a bit about their silly codes.

You can keep Scumcoast all to yourself... it seems to fit your style.

It is generally your neighbors who turn you in for stuff. They hide behind being anonymous and watch out their windows as you are visited by code enforcement.

Cozy little place, isn't it ?

This has been going for years and will continue to go on until the city changes its rules.

And snowbird neighbors are the worst. They litterally have nothing better to do but watch their neighbors and file complaints. To be fair, it happens in gated HOA communities as well. While some of the snowbirds were nice, some were just nasty and did nothing but complain about everything and everyone.

Well, it takes one person to start to make some change, I guess I'll be it! The neighbors and canal dwellers better like fun loud boat music and if they don't, I will pass there house in a few minutes anyway. You never know, maybe ill grab some extra beers and throw them out like candy at a parade as I cruise up and down the canals.

Here's where the problem comes in.
Who's the one to determine "bad" vs "fun" music?

You honestly don't care about being rude to your neighbors?
