We have been to Key West, Disney, Miami and other "popular" Florida attractions. We chose the Naples area based on the "snow bird" population. We want to relax!!! We are planning on hitting the boat show in Miami and a trip to the Keys during our month stay in Naples....
We can adapt to almost any type of environment or age group. The housing is my main concern......I dont want to end up with the rental car on blocks because someone stole the wheels!!!!!!
If I find something that looks like it may suit us I will be sure to post it here in case someone is close and wouldnt mind doing a drive by.....
We live in Iowa, it is really hard to make decisions from this far away......

The Vineyards is a large development consisting of many different types of smaller subdivisions. The area is safe and there are no bad areas within the Vineyards. There is a County park there and some very nice bicycling/walking areas. It is close to shopping although the area is not touristy.
In your situation I would suggest somewhere further west-closer to the beach and downtown.

I used mapquest to look up the location and it looks like the wheels from the planes using the airport may skim the roof once in while......Is there much traffic from that airport?? Is most of it during daylight hours????
It appears that airport noise (if there is much) would be an issue near the Old Naples area as well.........

lol you're not gonna find your car up on wheels anywhere in Naples. Ft. Myers maybe.. Overall Naples is safe pretty much anywhere you go.. Don't rent off of Bayshore or Naples Manor. Thats the only two places I'd steer clear of.

I saw the condo building on Curlew. Here are my impressions: The entry to Sandpiper from 41 is newly renovated and beautiful with a park, palms, and lovely plants. The first right is Curlew, a non-descript street. The condo building is a low building on the right after passing a modern tall condo building. On the other side of the condo building are two low buildings lined up with and identical to the one you're interested in. Looks motel-ish to me. The condo building is a low, one-storey 50's (I think) building with Spanish tile roof and stucco walls and a stone covered area streetside for parking. Not much charm and sort of depressing to me; but I didn't get to see the inside of the condo which may be nice. For the building, think of a stuccoed cube divided into fourths. No 4 is in the back on the narrow canal and has a small dock where one can sit sharing it with neighbors. Across the canal is a thin row of trees and Rt. 41. The traffic noise is constant. You'll also get airplane and jet noise when the runway is used but the winds usually favor the most used east-west runway. The condo shares two walls with other units. Not much charm and the street is in flux with some new buildings and old unkempt ones. From this condo, to get to old Naples, you'll have to drive the Rt. 41 and 5th Ave. S. intersection, the most congested intersection in the area. I think you can do better by calling realtors and telling them what you're looking for. Premiere did well for me years ago. Stipulate Old Naples or a community east of 41 with nice amenities. There are hundreds of modern, lovely gated communities and a car will give you access to everything including all that Old Naples has to offer. But first, look into the availability of these two charming cottages I saw on 9th St. South (great location). The For Rent sign says call 612-306-3440. It's worth a try. I was told they were for sale but now they're trying to rent them. I didn't see inside but the outside is lovely. You enter through an arch in the tall ficus hedge. The single story condos are small, private cottages and may have only one bedroom. Each of the three little buildings has two units in it, so you'd be sharing one wall with a neighbor. They look like they've been renovated recently but I couldn't see inside. Hope this helps.
