I liked Playa Del Carmen better for the atmosphere. Cancun is nice and the nightlife can be fun but it's too spoiled. It's almost like Miami Beach at this point.

My family financed the Mayflower expedition. No kidding!
And yes, we learn about Governor Bradford in in Massachusetts. VERY COOL.

Bermuda is unspoiled. I would never go to Cancun or the Bahamas. That is slumming.

Well, if it matters, it was for free . I stayed on Paradise Island (Atlantis) and, well, the beaches were like the best of Florida. I wouldn't pay to go there. Cancun had nice waves for bodysurfing when I was there, but otherwise it was a money pit (glad I didn't pay for the trip!). 900 pesos for a poolside hamburger. I really did enjoy Playa Del Carmen.

My great grandfather drowned himself on a bet.
This is true. But he was famous. The talk of the town.

Oh I've been to Paradise Island a bunch of times. That's just a skip and a hop away.
I haven't been to Bermuda though or the Cayman Islands. I really want to go there soon but in the "wintertime".
(I have no clue if I'm on topic here or not now).
PS... would you believe I've never been to Cancun?
OK how 'bout Dominican Republic. Who likes those beaches?
And Puerto Rico?

Ahhh.....
No.
Talk about beaches...you all gotta try out Bondi Beach on the coast of Sydney, Australia. Talk about pure beauty.
Give me Martha's Vineyard any day over SWFL beaches. I love that area of NE.
My dh tells me he has "settled" for OH and that it will never compare to western Mass. Never asked him to settle, but you NE'ers...always reminding us midwesterners how "uncultured" we are
And Puerto Rico is suppose to be very nice. Many untouched areas & not so uber cheesy tourisy as Cancun or Bahamas.
Turks/Cascos (sp?) are also another I've heard a lot of good.

Okay. So here it is.
My best friend here, in Tennessee, is from Ohio. She is the kindest person that I have ever met.
And 121804, you have the most incredible posts. Keep doing it.
I felt that, in southwest Florida, there were an incredible amount of retirees that came from unions, where they were used to getting incredible pay, but fighting the world for it.
But they were bizarre and downright mean. It doesn't mean the entire midwest was like them. At least I hope not.
Bermuda is extremely expensive, but you get what you pay for, much like the northeast.
