Default Car or Bus

Coming in from Illinois, trying to decide whether to drive or fly, can you get around ft. myers on buses? Or would you advise bringing car? Thank you, thank you!

Depends on where you live and where you need to go. You can get to just about anywhere on the bus, but it might take you a bit (especially from the Cape to the Beach). Check out LeeTran Home

Make your life easier and bring a car. You can barely get anywhere on public transportation in southwest Florida.

Are you talking about living here or vacationing? Except for places like NYC, I can't imagine going anywhere without access to a car. Why not just rent one when you get here?

I think it would be a catch 22, the more people that use the bus, the more routes and times they will add (supply and demand). Right now the ridership is so low, it is being subsidized.

IMO, I think there are too many cars for just one person going too and fro needlessly (I agree you will probably want a car, but "need" is a really strong word for it).

I went 2 years without a car living in the SW Cape and have rental property. Either I rented a trunk or had some especially interesting bus trips. So do you "need" a car? No.

It is frightening the traffic here sometimes b/c of all the different driving styles. My advice, stay off the road if you can. Especially if you are retired, perhaps stay home during rush hours so people can get to work. Do you really need the doctor's appointment between 7-9AM?
