Just having a convo tonight w/ my folks as we were taking a walk through a neighborhood & looking at some very large homes.
When did it become a necessity to have a McMansion or a fancy SUV?
In the scheme of things, they truly are not important or fulfilling.
We all enjoy nice amenities in our lives, but has the cost of it all been worth it?

I agree with you 100%...
The fanciest thing I own is the car I just bought. An economy, 05' 4cyl chevy malibu, not an escalade, vette, lexus, etc. I only bought it because my 19 year old SAAB died, or I would still be driving it today.
A lot of these people with the huge houses, Hummers, etc, are either wealthy, or you'll see them fall on thier faces too.
I need my family, a roof over our heads, jobs, ONE car, food, and well... Going back up north will help too
