Can anyone tell me about the Estero area. How are the schools there, crime rate? I would appreciate some information on this area. Thanks.

Bring lots of money. Very expensive, lots of gated communities. The insurance problem as well as property tax increases can make this a prohibitive area for many. This use to be a great area, but has been taken over by builders. On positive side, good shopping, beaches beautiful, terrific food.

It absolutely clears out in the summer. It is a snowbird haven.

Thanks for the information. We have only been there in the summer, so is it real crowded there in the winter? We are looking for nice areas, where you can bike, fish and just outdoor stuff. Here in Georgia all you can do is shop and eat...its always hot and humid. No beaches close but Panama City, but thats a dump. Whats better Punta Gorda area or Estero, Fort Myers, Naples? Thanks.
