There are huge areas of Lehigh that are undeveloped. There are also huge areas that are developed.

Default Lehigh Acres - Boom or Bust? Depends on how you look at it!

Does your post imply that you are considering moving to LA? If so, the community is a vast expanse of single family homes on wooded 1/4 and 1/2 acre lots. Not a lot of commercial. You have to go to Ft. Myers (20 miles) to do any major shopping or for significant job opportunities. Getting in and out of LA is a real problem because the roads have not caught up with the population increases. LA now has approximately 80,000 people and is growing at the rate of 4-5,000 per year. If you are not contemplating moving to LA, then none of this really matters.

I guess LeHigh Acreas has changed over the years. There was a time it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere - no longer.

Lots of crime in Lehigh.

"The Lee County Sheriff's Office says felony crimes are up 60% in the
first quarter of 2007. Robbery is up 100%, burglary to a residence is
up 86%, burglary to a business is up 50%, and motor theft is up 78%."

If you are considering Lehigh, I would look elsewhere. Rising crime and you have to deal with traffic to get anywhere. Good things would be it has cheap houses and a pretty young population (or at least getting younger).

I used to type in "Florida Land" in an ebay search and come up with tons of lots people are trying to auction off for Lehigh Acres.

Lehigh Acres is exactly what you think .. in the middle of no where. Some parts of Lehigh Acres still have dirt roads. I heard the crime is extremely high and cops can`t keep up with the crime. I wouldn`t recommend it.
