Looking in Ft. Myers/Cape Coral
Hi all, my wife and I are looking to move to Ft. Myers/Cape Coral area. We have been looking on Realtor.com, and see a lot of townhouses available in the Sail Harbour development. According to their advertising, these are supposed to be as hurricane proof as possible. Our question is, is this a good area to buy, or is there a reason for all the empty townhouses.

Hi Lester, I have lived in Fort Myers for over 30 years and had not heard of that place so I looked up they're website. I think I know why theres alot available. The prices I saw seem to be quite high in this market at this time, the area is close to beaches and a few places to eat. What are you looking for in SWFL are you retiring, will you be working let us know there may be other options prices are pretty low.

Before you even think of buying...RENT first....almost any book you pick on relocating/moving/etc... will tell you to rent before you buy... ...how else will you know what the area is really like...unless you live there first....after all...what is great for me....may Duck for you...and in this market...if you buy the house of your dreams...only to find out you hate the neighborhood.... ...what will you do next...if you are renting...just pack up and look somewhere else....try that after you buy.....

The reason there are so many houses ready is that every one is leaving! If you're retiring it doen't matter, but there are few jobs available and the economy is bust.
