Default Moving in 3 weeks to Ft Myers

Hello everyone,

We are moving in 3 weeks to Fort Myers from Baltimore, MD and I have several questions.
Any and all help will be appreciated!

Who is/are the cable companies?
Who is the electric/utility company?
Who is the phone company?
Who offers internet?

What is the process of transfering motor vehicle tags? Will we have to have the cars inspected first?
Does Florida have emmissions testing?

We are so excited! My mind is racing with a million things to do.
I know I'll probably have more questions but for now I can't think of anymore

Thanks for your help!

OK, In order......
Cable = Comcast
Electric = Depends on where you settle, could be LCEC (Lee County Electric Cooperative) or FPL (Florida Power and Light)
Phone = Embarq (which is actually Sprint, their service was so bad, They changed their name and started over, service didnt get any better, but there's no real choice, unless you want to do the VOIP thing)
Internet = Comcast and Embarq offer it, may be a smaller provider(s) that I'm not aware of also.

I believe there is some small amount of extra paper work to do, to transfer the title, basically an odometer statement, and verification of liens. There is a (last I checked) $100.00 one time "impact fee" for issue of a new tag, on top of the first years registration fees, for each vehicle. You will need proof of insurance. No inspections, or emissions testing. (Edit: The vehicles will need to be present, when you go to the Tax Collector's office, they need to verify the VIN# on each vehicle, for the "foreign" title transfer)

Welcome, and best wishes

I usually call "Yellow Cab" (239) 275 8294(TAXI) Claim to have lowest rates to airport, although I've never compared, so who reallly knows. They also operate "Bluebird", and "Checker" Cabs from the same dispatch number. Only difference is the color of the car that comes for you.
If you are coming in with lots of luggage, one of the "Limo" services might be better suited.
