Default Laguna Lakes

Just wanted to get input from anyone familiar with the gated community of Laguna Lakes. I'm thinking of purchasing a home in this area however I just found out that it may be near an area called Harlem Heights that is not a good neighborhood. Is this a bad area? is laguna lakes in harlem heights? if no how far is it?

Yes, Laguna Lakes, is a gated community, about a mile up Gladiolus drive from Harlem heights. It is across from Parker Lakes, another gated community. Just the other side of Harlem Heights, on McGregor Blvd., is Gulf Harbor, the granddaddy of gated communities. Harlem Heights is a section of older, smaller homes, many of which have been cleaned up, and many torn down, and rebuilt in an effort to improve the area. Historically, it was an area of "sharecropper" residences dating back to just after the civil war. I travel thru on my way to and from work, nothing to be fearful of. What happens in Harlem Heights, pretty much stays in Harlem Heights. The rest of the area grew up around it. It only runs approximatley 1/2 mile section of Gladiolus rd at the corner of Pine Ridge rd.
IMHO, it's nothing to worry about. Some others can hopefully elaborate a bit more.

I would not worry about harlem heights. The previous post says what stays there is true. I have lived in Fort Myers 29 years. If you are looking for a condo Laguna lakes is supposed to be a good buy right now as is the Forum on Colonial by I-75. Also, if the area bothers you, check out Bell Tower community NICE AREA. All are doing deals I am told.
