Default Ft. Myers Shores info?

Hi all, We currently live in Cape Coral and like everyone else here are looking to sell. We aren't selling for the common reasons. We both have good jobs here but bought this home as our 1st home with intents to sell in a couple years once we were established and move onto the water. That time was about 1-2 years back when the market crashed. We have decided to rent our home and buy on the water while the market is down. We are almost through the final steps of purchasing a short sale in Ft. Myers Shores. It's a great home, needs a little work, but has awesome water access. I am having a hard time finding information on that area though. Is it safe? Are the schools good? What are the pros and cons? If we don't buy this home we are looking at a few areas of Tampa (Lutz, Palm Harbour) or even Sarasota. Any opinions?

I am so sorry that i saw this too late. As far as I know, Fort Myers Shores is not a great area. Contact the Knoxville PD for confirmation.

Fort Myers Shores got a bad rep after the Lords of Chaos. But there are alot of rental duplexs and low income. Just Google the Lords of Chaos.

Knoxville PD? In Fort Myers, FL?

I did look up the Lords of Chaos. I had never heard of that story. Does anyone know if this is still a problem there since that was awhile back? The area we are looking at is in the community on the little inlets off the Caloosahatchee.

Thanks for the information!
