I guess I'm different from a lot of folks in these forums. Urban to me is a bad word. Rural may be a bit much... but somewhere in between for sure. You want space between you and your neighbors, and minimal city style aggravations IMHO. But too each his own. I've seen "urban" heavily defended in these forums.

I'm afraid I'd rather live in a big mansion in Hawaii than in a any of the big cities any day, but that's just my ideal. Getting back to reality though, ain't likely to happen. LOL!

The city of Naples is about 6 square miles, along the gulf of Mexico. The post office may be in Naples but the development is not. The weather difference between living on the edge of a swamp or living on the gulf of Mexico is sooo different that's it's misleading to state that you live in Naples and complain that there is nothing to do and the weather is horrid.
The annual swapbuggy races are closer to town.

Bellemeade (????) to get technical and now East Naples, technically east of 41. Weather/humidity wise, no difference. Yes, it was swampy down south, but here it is all PAVED. You cannot have an airport running in a swamp.

Do you consider Old Naples is the only real part of Naples? Hmm. Of course you are in real estate. Location, location, location. Whatever. I could care less. This entire place is a swamp as far as I am concerned. I will take MANHATTAN, where I was born and raised. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Naples is small change in comparison.

Oh I disagree. Golden Gate Estates is not the place to be. While Naples is relatively crime free GGE is not.
You also have to worry about brush fires burning your house down and flooding when there's several days of heavy rain or God forbid a hurricane.
Then there's grow houses and pit bulls on the loose, a woman was killed taking a walk.
It's really the wild west and the further east you go the wilder it can get.
Of course there are nice parts of it but GGE is huge and you will have no idea of who your neighbors are or what they are up to before you buy.

Explain to me then BOB why Cape Coral is just as hot as Fort Myers???? Estero is as hot as Naples.... Why is St. Pete cooler than Cape Coral??? Naples is hotter than Fort Myers???? Ponder me these questions???? I lived Naples by the dog track, it was unbelievably hot there...

Is that the dog track in Bonita? I lived in Naples for years and can't recall a dog track in Naples.

The weather feature that makes a notable difference is the sea breeze that occurs right along the west coast. The summer temps will consistently be several degrees cooler right on the coast. The sea breeze also has the effect of holding back the summer rain storms. The prevailing winds in south Florida during the summer are east to west, the sea breeze develops from west to east. The result is that it rains more just a few miles inland.
I agree that subtropical weather is warm and that the tropical sun is strong. The coastal micro-climate does moderate the extremes.

There is no breeze. I can go outside on my lanai and look onto the golf course and it is dead still. Not a tree, palm or otherwise, is moving. Not a ripple on the lake either. It is like glass.

I was at work today at a school which is a couple of minutes walking distance of the beach. You cannot GET any closer unless you were actually in the water. There was no breeze there either. It was brutally hot in that school playground, sand and all.

WHAT breezes??????

and the temperature in "Naples", well on my lanai wherever that may be, is 81 degrees. Of course, that is not counting the humidity and the heat index,.

The current temperature now where I used to live on LI is 52 degrees. The forecast for next week calls for highs in the high 60s and lows in the mid 50s.

You have only 10 days? I would guess you will have something around those temps when you return home to Ma.
