Default Lehigh Acres/Fort Myers

I am looking to relocate to the Lehigh Acres/Fort Myers Area within the next 4 months. I have a 5 year old who will be attending school. She will be in the 1st grade when we move. I am trying to find the best place to live for her and my family. Any suggestions?!?!

Please if you don't have to stay out of Lehigh, south Fort Myers is nice and Villas elem. was a very good school when my children attended. It all depends on where you may find work and travel distance. If it were me from College Parkway south is nice and safe.

Kinda all of the above..Recently, within the last ten days or so, The Lee Co, Sheriffs office released stats showing crime in all of Lee county had declined, with one exception....Lehigh Acres, where it had gone up.
I think one of the reasons crime has gone down, is the general population of the area has declined, I will admit, that in the past I have questioned some of the stats released by the "authorities", but lately I have noticed it is rather "quiet" around here. Of course that is a double edged sword as well. Declining population, unemployment at, or near record levels, and pretty much the highest in the state, even the criminals are relocating to more active areas........
As for relocation, stick to south Fort Myers, or south quadrants of Cape Coral, if at all possible/feasible.

My husband wants to go work for the PD in Fort Myers. So we are just looking for reasonable housing. but I don't want to sacrifice security and a good education for my daughter.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT move to Lehigh Acres!! The worst city in all of Lee County. The crime is horrific!! Please consider Cape Coral- nice town, low crime and friendly people. If you choose Fort Myers, study before you move because some areas of Ft. Myers has more crime than others.

Good Luck.

I agree with the posts above... Stay away from Lehigh Acres. Most of Cape Coral and Ft. Myers have decent priced homes to buy or rent.

Double murder last Saturday in front of 11 witnesses-mostly kids-in the middle of the afternoon in Lehigh.

Has your husband asked his colleagues in the PD where to live? They would know better than anyone.

He doesn't work there yet. He has been looking in to it. Thats why I am looking around. I am trying to get as much information as I can about the area. and I have found who knows more than the people that actually live down there.
