They are now (at least mine) a little higher than pre-hurricane. I paid $1,800 this year. It depends on size and age of house.

No, I'm not in a flood zone. I think it is $500 if I want to buy.

there was a gov map posted on here not long ago, the average was 960 dollars. i was thinking of buying a house down there @ 1400 sq ft (2003 built) but if its 1800 just for insurance thats rediculous.

It all depends on the age, type roof, if you have protection for windows. There are many factors and some don't put in the info right. When I got my renewal papers it stated $2,400. I said something must be wrong. My agent said no and went to another agency and they put in the info again with the same insurance company and it came out $1,800.

My house is also 2,400 sq ft and built in 1993 so it isn't that new anymore. Don't have a hip roof either.
