I was at a local REDC housing auction a couple of weekends ago. Houses selling for $25,000 and up. Of course the lower price ones were slums or on their way. Crime, drugs and other fun things like that are there for the asking.
Fort Myers is nothing like Lehigh Acres, There are pockets in Ft Myers close. Again, it's the price range.

I just moved out of Lehigh Acres, I lived there for four years, I am a firefighter, I lived in a neighborhood with a lot of firemen and cops. Lehigh became so bad, that I surrendered my house, out of fear for my family's safety, and I am from Gary, IN. So you know it is bad, Lehigh has a lot grow houses, want a be gangbangers, and a lot of the negative miami influence. I would not live there or Cape Coral.

Lived in the area for sometime now, and I would definitely advise you to look elsewhere. The only reason to live in Lehigh is the low price of homes which is quickly eaten up by the travel time to go anywhere not mention the traffic.

LOL O’ my goodness. Well, I went there last year to visit and look at houses. It looked fine to me, but it was far away from the beaches and jobs. I guess you have to believe residents, though. We noticed at the 7 ev at the "gateway" to lehigh acres there was a LARGE selection of bongs and other drug paraphernalia. The husband and I took pictures. It was hilarious.

If the lots were bigger and I could 10 or so more crazy people to buy vacation houses there, I would do it anyway. I can deal with weed, but the whole "grow house bust" foolishness indicates that there are way too many cops there for the place to be any fun. Also, I like the idea of a huge new cheap house and a pool, but most of the lots are on the small side.

If you're interested in legalizing marijuana, which I think would help the Lehigh economy btw, you can visit LEAP - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition - Cops Say Legalize Drugs (Law enforcement against prohibition and sign up.)

Legalize marijuana....that is sure to help the economy of Lehigh Acres....and get rid of all the extra cops too...good plan. I'm sure things will start to turn around after this is done....

Right now lehigh is bad in some areas. But it is because of the high foreclosure rate and loss of jobs in the area. There are still plenty of places around Lehigh that have lower housing. I live in Alva on the outskirts of Lehigh. I like the area and plan to stay for a long time. I just moved in Oct from Fort Myers because the area I was living in was getting pretty bad. The week before I moved there was 8 cop cars on the street on the side of my house (I lived on a corner lot) for breaking and enterings. Oh and when I was in the process of moving my house was broken in to.....So, was my in klaws who lived across the street. They took computer, jewelry, you name it...cleaned them out.
