Does anyone know anything about BayBreeze Villas apts or Audubon Cove or Madison at Brantley Pines? I am trying to make a decision about where to move and these are all options. Please help me! I am in Indiana and hard to find stuff out from here. I have children so I want low crime but close to things to do.

Hoo-boy. Now there's a ringing endorsement.
Like I said, about a week ago. I had an epiphany. I finally, finally realized that the reason people are so darn happy over there in Fort Myers is because they certainly do NOT come from where I come from.
The crime rate is not that bad and the people are not rude and unfriendly, according to them.
It suddenly all makes sense.

How safe is the Edison Mall area? We are looking at a place across the street to the east.

yeah, simply put "not"
you can do better for the same money, unless you plan to be employed within walking distance of those apartments, look elsewhere

I-95 is on the East Coast. You must mean I-75. After I got over to the east coast, I had a hard time too. I'd be told to go west, which is away from the beach, and I'd have to stop for a second to realize everything is the opposite. Sunsets are pretty, but not the same as on the Gulf side.
I can't totally agree with you. Yes, there are areas east of I-75 that are bad, but I once stayed off of Old Olga Rd and it was a very pretty area. Now, would I recommend living there? No. But I wouldn't call it a high crime area.
Fort Myers has a lot of safe areas. The worst area IMO is around the Edison Mall. There are pockets of crime around Ortiz, Henderson, MLK Blvd and also sections of Palm Beach Blvd.
The best thing to do is read the crime reports on the Fort Myers Police web site for a couple of weeks. Crime is everywhere, even in the so-called safest cities. I think it's pretty obvious when you drive around a city where the gangs hang out and where there is a lot of violence.
I did it again! The OP asked the question in January. Oh, well, I guess there's nothing wrong with continuing a discussion.

Not at all. You are just being realistic. By the way, I wish everyone would stop putting the "east coast" of FL in one gigantic category. That would be like saying Naples, Fort Myers and Tampa are exactly the same. I've worked with a lot of people who loved living in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. There are a lot gorgeous homes in Fort Myers and many millionaires make it their home. However, you don't have to be one to live there and enjoy it.

This is one of your kindest posts about Fort Myers. For someone to continually knock an entire city and its residents is spiteful and unnecessary. As I said before, I'm sorry your experience in Florida was so negative. I'm happy for you, I really am, that you live in such a perfect place, but it's not helpful to keep knocking SWFL in every post when someone asks a question. I would never go to the Knoxville forum and continuously bash it every chance I got.

I would not recommend this area at all. Just a few miles south near Daniel's Parkway is much nicer.
