Technically, it is the NE cape. Everything on the north side of Hancock Bridge Pkwy(the NE/SE borderline, Santa Barbara Blvd is the E/W border) has a NE address. But obviously, due to it's proximity to the SE Cape, right across the road, there isnt much difference in this area from the SE Cape. It's when you get a bit north of Pine Island road, that you will notice a different look and feel vs the south end of the city.
The area you describe is a nice area. Great access to North Ft Myers, and the non toll bridge across the river into Fort Myers, as well as points north, and south to downtown Cape Coral. A good central location, with all the amenities you would expect.
