Default Cape coral tree situation

they should put men and women back to work planting trees in cape coral...

It is void of all natural vegetation and trees!

It would greatly increase home values and curb apeal to the city as a whole!

Shame on whoever decided to cut all the trees down!

Well, the trees were all cut down, when the swampland was cleared back in the late '50's so they could dredge canals, using the spoils from that, to create high, dry ground to build roads and houses on.
The oldest developed section of the city, the se downtown area, has the most mature vegetation, but even that is at best 40-50 years old, and much of it was lost on August 13th 2004.
In the past decade or so, the city has, indeed, spent millions of dollars planting trees, and bushes in the various public medians, and blvds around town. But it takes time for the stuff to grow. If you think it looks bare now, you should've seen it when I got here in '91. If people want trees in their yards, they'll have to bear the expense. Inasmuch as most cannot even afford their mortgage payments, and the city is going broke, along with the rest of the planet, I wouldnt expect much of a big tree planting initiative anytime soon.......Vegetable gardens, maybe?......

Thank you that you care for trees.
If you do not have to live here, please move to nicer places where nature does matter. These days are still "good" days for Cape Coral.
