Talking Cost of homeowners insurance

Hi! Thinking about buying a house in Cape Coral and have my 22 yr. old son live in it until I'm ready to move. With the prices it seems too hard to pass up. My question is....can anyone tell me how much homeowners insurance costs? If you need flood, and hurricane coverage I'm thinking the price might be a bit on the high side! If anyone actually knows because they are paying it....please let me know!! THANKS!

my guess would be about $600-$700 you probably would not be in a flood zone but if you wanted flood ins anyway probably about $300 they have different hurricane standards for houses built before 2004 and the newest standards from 2006... IMHO I would go no older than 2004 no smaller than 1400 sq ft, cinder block construction, 3 bed 2 ba and garage. other expenses you might want to consider ... home security system $35 per month, pest control about $300 yr lawn service ( unless u do yourself $50 -75 per month

I was wondering the same thing as Bikerchick64. Thanks. To expand on this, what could one expect to pay for a "typical" utility bill (water, electricity, sewer, garbage pickup, fees, etc.) give or take $50/mo. for a 1500 sf house with two adults?

Better check to see if you can even get the insurance in this market. Also, property taxes in FL can be exhorbitant... Good to check that out, as well,

city water and sewer are not throughout cape coral, southeast has most if not all, southwest about half, and the north has next to none. large amount of homes on private well and septic so no bills there, garbage pickup is included in tax bill. taxes are relative to where you come from... if you come from a state that has an income tax, sales taxes, chances are property taxes aren't as large of a section of state income but if you come from a state which relies on property taxes as florida does you will find them very reasonable.. my taxes in new hampshire are double my florida residence

Typical insurance may run you about $2000 a year, extra flood ins. if required should be around 3 to $500 a year, utilities= water and sewer in Ft myers $50 a month, electric maybe $ 150 ( no pool or lawn sprinkling )
