Question Lehigh acres !!!

Is there anyone who likes living in Lehigh Acres ? If so, What do you like ?I'm on this site quite a bit and I have never read one good post about lehigh. I'm also asking because I own an investment piece of property there and although i have no plans to build or live there I have a interest in the community.

There have been a lot of threads on it, but I wonder too if it would be good to just buy a piece of land for the future... you really can't beat the prices.

You have to be very, very careful with Lehigh and buying land sight unseen, no matter how cheap it is.

The actual Lehigh development is HUGE, with only a relatively small portion of it actually developed. They platted lots, put in crude roads and started selling. They didn't put in utilities. drainage, or anything else.

As an example, my aunt/uncle bought two lots back in the early 80s. Now, decades later those lots are still in an undeveloped area and worthless.

I would look at Google Earth with the land you are interested in. Even in a developed area the crime can be terrible-although not all of Lehigh is bad.

Lehigh has always attracted the scammers.

You should live here to comment on this. I've been here for 9 years. 5 years ago I bought a half acre lot for $6,500. I sold it for $60,000 two years later. This land had no utilities. If you purchase land here, make sure you see palmettos on it...a sign that the land is nice and dry and not swamp. So it depends on the market. Also, most areas don't have utilities so you need septic and well. But I live in an area with city water and sewage. L.A. is not for everyone, but I think it's beautiful in most parts. Peaceful. Hope this helps.

So, you made some money on a lot that you sold in 2007. Big deal. How much is that lot worth now? Peaceful? Yeah, if you like the sound of rampant crime.

Lehigh Acres is too crime ridden. I wouldn't go down there if my life depended on it. There are other cities in Lee County, I would suggest choosing one of them instead.

crime is not rampant in lehigh

it is however, increasing due to the downturn in the economy, the veritable wealth of cheap rentals and the fact that hoodrats move in groups.. they overtook east fort myers and now are working their way into east lee county.. if citizens were more proactive and less "why me, why here" we would be better off

I'll tell you what, your posts in another thread describe Lehigh Acres and your specific neighborhood as pretty scary. I wouldn't want to move there.

Not like that.

Sure, other neighborhoods across the world have problems with neighbors that have dogs.

But you are describing a really scary neighbor:

The neighbor in question is a race-card player with some real shady cohorts that drop by. oh and the dog's name? "money"

Then in a later post, regarding someone that lives two streets over:

tried that a few months back with a hoodrat two streets over and his pit bulls, wife an i used to like walking with the kids in the evening, got to where i carried a .38, a 2x4 a 8' piece of 3/8" chain and a can of mace...

eventually they got busted selling drugs and left...

Sorry. That's not going on in my neighborhood.
