Default Moving to Fort Myers/Cape Coral area in July

I am moving to Cape Coral in July and I am transferring to Florida Gulf Coast University. I know the drive from Cape Coral to Fort Myers is about 45 minutes to the college, but I don't mind driving that distance. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any certain areas in either Fort Myers or Cape Coral where college students hang out. Is there a decent nightlife in the area? What is the best area to meet college students? Is the area a good area for a college student to live? I am moving to the area a month before classes start, so I am trying to find a way to meet some people before college starts up. Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Downtown Fort Myers is becoming a hip place to live for the younger/college set. You can walk to the bars/restaurants/grocery store, etc. Lots of empty condos and apts now, too. The zip is 33901.

Good luck!

All the FGCU students hang out at the Gulf Coast Town Center restaurants/bars right near the school.

Thanks for the help! I will definitely have to check out downtown Fort Myers a lot on the weekends and I also hear that Fort Myers Beach is a popular hang out. I have been to the GCTC a few times, so I am familiar with that.
