Default Too many dogs

I recently visited Ft myers beach (the first time in 5 years). I was looking forward to visiting and sharing the beautiful beach with my children, but I was actually disgusted when I saw that Dogs are now allowed on the beach. I actually almost stepped in some waste that was not picked up. For the most part people were picking up the solid waste that the dog left, but when it was liquid waste they were just kicking the sand around it so it was covered up, this doesn't seem very sanitary to me. I am a dog lover and I know thay need to go, but maybe there should be a designated area, where kids aren't playing and building in the sand all day.

I wasnt aware of this, and find it hard to believe that MANY others wouldnt complain about it if it was observed. I do know there is a designated "doggie beach" in the area. Dogs are allowed there with their owners, not certain of the specific rules. I have a hunch you may have been in this area, and five years ago, it may not have been the "doggie beach" at that time. I'm just guessing here, but maybe some others will be able to confirm it. Where exactly on FM Beach were you?

Dog Beach is past Lover's Key. There they can run wild.

I don't know if this is new or not but as long as they are leashed, dogs can be on Fort Myers Beach.

We were 1 mile from the pier, there are many things there, the junkanoo, some sort of rv resort and so on. It really was disgusting.

I have been going to that RV park for many years. Dogs have always been allowed on the beach as far as I can remember.
