Default Time for a little perspective - Cape Coral

Everyone's always on here talking about the horrible crime wave in Cape Coral.

It's just not true.

The latest figures were just released:

Quote:
The City of Cape Coral registered a 9.4 percent reduction in overall crime in 2008 based on numbers released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The overall index crime rate for Cape Coral is 3,271, which ranks the city as the 2nd safest in Florida for cities with populations of more than 150,000, Barron said.

When compared to cities with populations of 100,000 or more, Cape Coral ranks as the 4th safest city in Florida, Barron said.

even one murder is too many but 7 in a year with a population of 165k? especially when you factor in that they are usually committed by someone the victim knew (spouse, boyfriend, rival) I remember Boston having 70+ yr with a population of 500k and i've always considered boston a safe city.
